Tanjong Datu Malaysia's LighthouseTanjong Datu Malaysia's Lighthouse


     Besides enjoying the natural beauty of the flora and fauna in Lundu district, another attraction is Tanjong Datu Malaysia’s Lighthouse which was built at the end of Malaysia and Indonesia border. The lighthouse themed “Where Borneo Begins” is situated in a very strategic and unique of the island of Borneo where it was symbolizes the initiation to the Borneo Island adventures.


     The lighthouse has been given a new look and in conjunction with it, the signing was made where the lighthouse was commissioned by special zip code of 94111 in conjunction with the World Post day on the 10th October 2017 in the “Tanjung Datu Sovereignty  Program”. The event was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sport, Datuk Jailani Johari.

     According to him, “ Tanjong Datu Lighthouse Sovereignty Program is a two-pronged project apart being a tourism icon. ”It also aims to strengthen the rule of Sarawak and Malaysia in strategic area where the onset of Borneo,” he said in the same event. Also present at the ceremony were the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sport Datuk Abdukl Karim Rahman and Tanjong Datu assemblyman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu.


With a concrete build lighthouse, it has a height of 8 metres and located at latitude 02°04'45".893 and Longitude  109°38'31" .484.


To visit here you have to use the coastal route with boats going through Tanjung Datu National Park from Kampung Telok Melano or Sematan.
